Any wedding planner will tell you it’s the small things that stand out. Here’s one of our favorite (and perfectly planned) fetes
Company: A Day in May Events
Bride and groom: Kim and Mark Mastrangeli
Designer: Alicia Caldecott
Venue and location: Camp Redmonds, Suttons Bay, MI
Photographer: Jen Kroll Photography
“Kim and Mark have been to 16 weddings the year before their own, so when they came to me, they said ‘We want something different,'”, says Caldecott, owner of A Day in May Events. To make their wedding look beachy but not feel tropical, Caldecott used blues, greens, and earthy tones to anchor the decor. Lighting was of prime importance, and Caldecott used different sources, including candlelight and drop down West Elm drum shades, to cast a soft glow. “We wanted to envelop everything in light to make it feel comfortable,” she says of the overall design.
Rattan changers kept the tables feeling rustic and polished.
At dusk, Caldecott lit more than 600 candles on the beach. “The weather was perfect – not a single one blew out!”
