Legare Waring House Wedding

Chelsea and Anthony’s ceremony took place at Legare Waring House wedding venue where they stood in front of family and friends under a beautiful floral arbor featuring all the pastel colors.

The reception featured farmhouse tables that were decorated with beautiful arrangements of flowers and pastel-colored candles to pull it all together.

The sweetheart table faced out to all the bride and groom’s family and friends where they could enjoy their night celebrating their love.

They danced the night away and even have a custom canvas captured by the amazing wed on canvas.

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR WEDDING STYLE? Our inspiration was the french countryside and when we saw the spanish moss hanging from the oak trees in the avenue of the oaks at Legare Waring House wedding venue, it seemed like a perfect fit for us. We combined the french countryside idea with an outdoor garden wedding vibe and it worked out perfectly!

WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS LOCATION? Charleston, South Carolina had the perfect weather for the time of the year we wanted to get married (April). Legare Waring House wedding venue had the outdoor grounds we were looking for with the convenience of a beautiful house to get ready in and use if it rained.

HOW DID YOU MEET? We actually went to high school together but it took until senior prom as our first date before we became a couple. The night was slightly awkward going from long known acquaintances to dating, but we have been happily together ever since.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROPOSAL: We went on vacation to Oregon wine country in Willamette Valley and stayed at a rural bed and breakfast. We had amazing international hosts that made us gourmet vegan breakfasts (that were good and we aren’t even vegan!). Anthony asked me the night we arrived at the bed and breakfast and spent the rest of the week enjoying wine tasting.

TELL US ABOUT FINDING YOUR WEDDING DRESS: Finding a dress was initially difficult given that I did not know what sort of style I would be interested in. We lived in Arizona and the wedding was in Charleston, SC, so some of the styles that were popular in Arizona were not the type of dress you would want at an outdoor garden-type wedding in the southeast.

I tried on dresses at about 5 different stores and realized that I liked a semi-form-fitting lace detailed dress with off-the-shoulder straps. For me, deciding on the veil was not easy either! I learned that veils can be unexpectedly heavy, so keep that in mind when you are choosing a veil and how you will have it secured in your hair.

DESCRIBE YOUR WEDDING FLOWERS: The flowers were absolutely amazing. Thank you Flora! Given the space was outdoors and there was natural greenery, we wanted to add to the beautiful landscape. We wanted to have a variety of flowers focusing on whites, blues, blushes, and purples. Our ceremony was flower forward so we had aisleway flowers and a circular floral arch that tied in the natural scenery with the additional flowers. We wanted to let Blake and Francesca at Pure Luxe Bride and Andrea at Flora be creative going off of the color palate we liked.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE OUT TO A COUPLE PLANNING THEIR WEDDING? If you can, get a wedding planner! I was busy in my pediatric medicine residency Anthony also has a full time job so balancing planning a wedding with work was unrealistic. Francesca and Blake saved so much time and effort helping coordinate everything, we definitely could not have done it without them! Also, keep a detailed pinterest page of what you like with different ideas and styles, this can help you and your planners organize exactly what you are looking for in your wedding!

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT? Our ceremony was planned for around 6 pm and it was timed perfectly as the sun started to set. For us, saying our personalized vows in front of the beautiful flower arch with our close friends and family was very special to us. We also did a first look, and we found it was super important to have some time to ourselves before all of the wedding festivities began.

WHAT ASPECT OF THE WEDDING WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT TO YOU BOTH? We both wanted to have a wedding that utilized local businesses. Individually, Anthony wanted to focus on having high quality local food, which was amazingly done by Salthouse Catering. I wanted to focus on the flowers, for which we had many and they were beautifully arranged by Flora.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU TWO? We will be moving to Baltimore for me to continue specializing my medical training as a pediatric nephrology fellow (kidney doctor) at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Luckily, Anthony will be able to continue to work from home! We plan to get a second cat to add to our cat and dog fur baby family
