Whitney & Collin’s tropical outdoor wedding ceremony and reception took place at Bonnet House Museum & Gardens in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
From the bride: Colin and I wrote our vows, so they were unique to us as a couple which was special. We also wanted to highlight how important our families have been in being a support system as well as role models for us in our relationship. I wanted to share with our friends and family the story behind my wedding band. My grandfather bartered with wool to purchase this ring for my grandmother during wartime in Germany. They were married for 68 years before she passed, so this is an important symbol of their commitment to each other. Sharing these memories made the ceremony a very important and special part of the day.
How he asked: Colin and I met through friends at graduate school at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. I was getting my Doctorate of Nursing Practice and Colin was completing his MBA. Colin proposed 5 years later at 6 AM in front of our Christmas tree at our home. I was half asleep and very surprised! But it made for a wonderful Christmas with our families who were very happy for us.
