Katie and Luke’s wedding in Kansas City was the perfect combination of classic and romantic. Katie’s dress was full of detail and looked as if it was made just for her. The reception space was minimal, classy, and beautiful.
One of the best parts of this day was when Katie surprised her groom at the reception with a live performance of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. She serenaded him and his reaction was absolutely priceless! They also shared the most epic dance with the friends and family (a long family tradition for Katie’s family.) The guests and vendors couldn’t help but smile ear to ear at the happy couple!
From the bride: We both have been to so many weddings before, so we wanted to try to make ours unique to us and to our guests, but also just wanted to have a good time.
We both have simple tastes, so we liked the idea of simple greenery with rose and gold accents. I kept gravitating toward the rustic/bohemian theme with the green, champagne, and rose color scheme and that worked for us. To make my bouquet a little different than my bridesmaid’s, our florist made mine all white and added pink and rose accents to theirs.
We both grew up catholic, so we had a traditional Catholic mass for our ceremony.
My family does a dance at the reception that is unique to us, so the band actually learned that song just for us and performed it live for my family to dance to. It was an absolute blast.
For me, the most special part was being in the same room as everyone we loved. There’s something so magical about celebrating your forever love with everyone who has supported you and cheered you on along the way.
I was also SO excited to get on stage and sing my surprise song to Luke. He had no idea and it was so special. That is a core memory that will live in my mind forever. Luke was excited to be married. We had worked for so many hours to plan this wedding and he was excited to see it all come to fruition. He was also pumped to dance the night away with our amazing band, Funk Syndicate.
At the end of the day, it is about the two people getting married and the love you share. It is easy to get caught up in the details of the wedding and to make a big deal about the little things. But if you continue to remind yourself that the wedding is just 1 day of a beautiful, wonderful, life-long marriage, it tends to bring you back to what is really important. Not everything will go exactly how you planned it, but that is okay. As long as you get to marry the love of your life, it’s perfect in whatever way it happens.
