Thorpe Garden Wedding

Elizabeth and Dominic were married at Thorpe Garden Wedding venue this past September in the UK.

From the bride: Dominic and I met when we were young, I was 12 and he was 15.

Over the years we got to know each other more and more and we got closer as friends. As other members of the friendship group dispersed over time, Dom and I never fell out of touch.

We’d always find an excuse to message each other every few weeks. Right from the start of meeting each other, we both knew that there was something different about our friendship and that it would last a long time.

Eventually, as we got older, things quietened down until I decided to message him and this led to the conversation which has brought us to where we are now. We went on our first date in Dec’16.

Everything we chose had a fresh and natural feel to it.

We wanted everything to have a timeless look, so that when we looked back on photos in 30 years it wouldn’t look or have a dated feel to it.

Pinterest was our greatest help in sourcing ideas.

The venue was the biggest decision that would completely set the theme and tone of the day.

I had seen Thorpe Garden wedding venue online many months before we were even engaged. My mom had sent me the link to it as she couldn’t believe how beautiful it was.

I knew as soon as we got to the point of choosing a venue that we had to go and see this one that I’d seen many months back.

We visited the venue for a tour and immediately booked.

After the ceremony, Dominic and I headed out in the wedding cars for a champagne drive.

This was perfect as we got to spend some time alone to just soak in everything.

The cars were a classic VW campervan for the mother of the bride and bridesmaids and a convertible classic beetle for myself and father of the bride/Groom, both in colours that fitted our scheme.

4 days before our wedding day, the government announced that they would be cutting the guest limit of 30 to 15 and that it became effective from the 28th.

So essentially we missed having 30 people by 2 days. This was really frustrating.

30 was just about doable with having the essential people there but now 15, that was an incredibly hard situation.

Our guests were amazing and so supportive so that made it easier for us.

Don’t be scared of a small wedding.

Both ourselves and our guests thought it was so incredibly special and intimate only having a few of our closest family and friends, and it didn’t feel like less of a wedding because of the small number.
