Sierra and Tyler got married at Terrain at Styer’s in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, in May 2026, on a sunny afternoon surrounded by greenhouses and garden. Their dog Ruthie came in a pearl collar and sat with the guests through the vows.
They’ve known each other since kindergarten and went to school together from K through 12. Tyler had a crush the whole time, and Sierra finally said yes to a date their senior year of high school. Ten years, a 2,000-mile move and a stretch of long distance later, he proposed in their apartment one Friday after work. No photographers, no surprise party, just the two of them and Ruthie. Then they walked the dog, ordered a pizza and watched a movie.

A summer garden dinner party at Terrain at Styer’s
Sierra and Tyler pictured a cozy summer garden dinner party and kept everything simple and intimate. Butter yellow bridesmaid dresses set the palette, the groomsmen wore black tuxedos, and the florals stayed green and white with a whimsical streak, including trailing green amaranthus in the bouquets. They said their vows at a white gazebo at the end of an aisle of wooden chairs. A soft yellow is one of the easiest bridesmaid colors to pull off outdoors.
Their approach to fashion was refreshingly low-stress. “We went with what made us feel good!” Sierra says. “Comfort is key.”

Ruthie, the honorary member of the wedding party
Ruthie sat quietly with guests during the ceremony, worked the room at cocktail hour and posed for portraits like she’d been booked for it. She even showed up on the bar signage, the one DIY project of the day: Sierra made the signs with a photo of “our sweet dog, Ruthie girl.”

Candlelight, string lights and flower baskets
For decor they leaned on warm light, from candles of every kind to string lights, and hired small businesses for signage and details. Flowers went where you’d expect (bouquets and centerpieces) and a few places you wouldn’t, like the floral baskets at the start of the aisle. Sierra trusted her florist to read the space. The moment they were most excited about? The speeches.

Editor picks inspired by this wedding, not what the couple wore.
- Birdy Grey Freya Chiffon Dress in Butter, $129 at Birdy Grey. A one-shoulder chiffon gown in Birdy Grey’s Butter, for the soft yellow that set this wedding’s palette. It’s maternity friendly and runs from XXS to 3X, which makes it easy to put a whole bridal party in it.
- Afloral Green Hanging Amaranthus Fake Wildflower Branch, $12 at Afloral. Trailing green amaranthus is the whimsical part of the green-and-white bouquets here. This 36.5-inch faux stem is wired, so you can bend it into a DIY bouquet or centerpiece and keep it long after the flowers would have wilted.
- Birdy Grey Spencer Tuxedo in Black, $249 at Birdy Grey. Satin lapels and a satin stripe down the pants, for the black-tux side of a butter yellow wedding party. The price covers jacket and pants, and buying the dresses and tuxes from one store keeps the ordering in one place.

“Do what makes you happy, split the wedding responsibilities, and enjoy it!”
