This policy explains what information modernweddings.com (“Modern Weddings,” “we,” “us”), operated by CMEG, LLC, collects when you visit, how we use it, which outside services collect information on our pages, and the choices you have. Questions go to info@modernweddings.com.
What we collect
What you send us. We don’t offer accounts, comments or a newsletter. If you email us at one of the addresses on our Contact page, we get your email address and whatever you include, and we use it to reply and handle your request.
Real wedding submissions. Photographers and planners send real weddings through Two Bright Lights. We receive what they submit, including photos, the couple’s names and the vendor list, and we publish what we feature. Two Bright Lights’ own privacy policy covers what you enter on its site.
What’s collected automatically. When you visit, our site and the services listed below use cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as the pages you view, the links you click (including links to stores), the site that sent you here, your browser and device type, and your approximate location based on your IP address. Our web host also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses.
How we use it
- To run the site and keep it secure.
- To see which articles people read and which picks they click, so we can make our guides more useful.
- To earn and track affiliate commissions. When you buy through some of our links, the store may pay us a commission. Our How We Make Money page explains how that works.
We don’t sell the emails or submissions you send us.
Services that collect information on our pages
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics, through Google’s Site Kit plugin, to count visits and clicks, including which product links are clicked. We’ve turned on Google signals, which lets Google connect visits with the Google accounts of signed-in users who have allowed it, and we collect approximate location and device data. We keep Analytics event data for 14 months. Google Fonts. Our typefaces load from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser details when a page loads. See Google’s privacy policy.
Skimlinks and Taboola. Skimlinks, a Taboola company, turns links to participating stores into affiliate links and records clicks so stores can credit us. The Skimlinks script also loads scripts from Taboola. Skimlinks and Taboola set cookies and collect information about the pages you visit and the links you click, and the Skimlinks group, which includes Taboola, may use that information to target advertising. Amazon Associates. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases. When you click an Amazon link, Amazon receives our tracking ID and sets its own cookies so it can credit us. See the Amazon.com Privacy Notice.
LTK and Rakuten Advertising. Links to some stores, including Nordstrom and Etsy, go through LTK (rewardStyle), and Etsy links pass through Rakuten Advertising. These services record the click and set cookies so the store can credit us. See the LTK Privacy Statement and the Rakuten Advertising privacy policy.
Once you leave our site for a store, that store’s privacy policy applies.
Advertising cookies and state privacy laws
Some U.S. state privacy laws treat letting advertising partners collect information through cookies for targeted advertising as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. The Skimlinks and Taboola cookies described above may count. You can opt out of Taboola’s use of your information on its U.S. state privacy rights page, opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies through the Network Advertising Initiative, and use LTK’s Do Not Sell page. Blocking third-party cookies in your browser also stops most of this collection.
Your choices
- Cookies. Your browser lets you block or delete cookies, including third-party cookies. Some links may then stop crediting us, but the site still works.
- Analytics. Use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
- Advertising. Use the Taboola, Network Advertising Initiative and LTK links above.
- What you sent us. Email info@modernweddings.com to ask what we have from you, or to have us correct or delete it. Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights to access, correct or delete personal information, or to opt out of its sale or sharing. We’ll respond within the time the law requires.
Children
Modern Weddings is written for adults planning weddings. It isn’t directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has sent us personal information, email us and we’ll delete it.
How long we keep information
We keep emails and submissions as long as we need them to reply, publish and keep business records. Google Analytics event data is kept for 14 months. Skimlinks, Taboola, Amazon, LTK and Rakuten Advertising keep information under their own policies.
Security
We use reasonable measures to protect the site and the information we hold. No website or email system is perfectly secure.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page.
