These are the rules every Modern Weddings post follows. If you spot something that breaks them, email info@modernweddings.com and we’ll fix it.
How we pick products
- Our editors research each pick from the retailer’s listing, the maker’s own description, return and personalization policies, and reviews published by other outlets.
- When we quote another publication or a maker, we name them and link to the page we read.
- We say “our editors picked” or “our pick.” We never say we tested a product unless we did.
- Every gift guide covers several price points, and we mention a downside when it should change what you buy.
Prices and links
- We check every price, link and seller in a live browser before a guide is published and again each time we update it. The date is in the guide’s “Updated” line.
- Prices change, especially sale prices on Etsy and at department stores. The price at checkout is the one that counts.
- We don’t show Amazon prices, because Amazon only allows prices that come directly from Amazon. Our Amazon buttons say “Check the price at Amazon.”
Real weddings
- Real weddings come from the photographers and planners who worked them, through Two Bright Lights.
- We write every story in our own words and add nothing that isn’t in the submission: no invented details, quotes or vendors.
- Couples’ quotes run as they gave them, with typos fixed.
- Every vendor in the submission is credited in the role it played and linked to its own website.
Money and independence
- We earn commissions when you buy through some of our links. Here’s how that works.
- Brands can’t pay to appear in our picks. If we ever publish a sponsored post, it will say “Sponsored” at the top and its links will be marked as sponsored.
Updates and corrections
- We refresh gift guides and roundups regularly and say what changed in the “Updated” line at the top of the post.
- When we get something wrong, we fix it, and we note the correction when it changes the meaning of the post.
