Stefani & Mark's Elegant Green Wedding

Stefani & Mark’s elegant green wedding was held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and Slate Venues at II Creeks last year.

How they met: Stefani and Mark met in July 2012 on Mark’s fraternity’s river float trip in New Braunfels, TX. While floating the river, Stefani ended up getting separated from the friends she came with and kept floating further and further from the group. Finally, she noticed a couple of guys that looked familiar and must have been with the fraternity group, so she swam over to them and asked one of them if she could hang onto his tube since there was no one else she knew in sight. She found out their names were Nick and Mark, and after chatting for a bit, Nick caught the hint from Mark to leave Mark and Stefani to float alone. By the end of the float, Mark was the one holding onto Stefani’s tube to make sure he didn’t lose her!

How he asked: On Valentine’s Day 2018, Mark told Stefani that they would be picking up his cousin at the airport and having a family dinner at his parents’. He said to also pack an overnight bag just in case dinner runs late and they would have to spend the night. He picked her up from work around lunchtime, and they went straight to the airport to “pick up Amy”. When arriving, Mark said, “It looks like we are a little early, so we can go wait inside until her flight lands”, which was weird because Stefani never recalled him ever waiting inside when her flights were delayed or he was early because Mark would prefer to drive around rather than unnecessarily paying to park. When they got inside, Stefani mentioned that they were at departures and would have to go downstairs for the arrivals and headed for the stairs. That’s when Mark took 2 plane tickets out of his coat pocket and said, “Actually, we aren’t picking up Amy. We just have dinner reservations in New Orleans tonight at Galatoire’s.” New Orleans is Mark and Stefani’s absolute favorite city to visit, going at least once or twice a year since they started dating in 2012. So they hopped on a plane and made it to NOLA in time to catch a few drinks before dinner. Mark asked Stefani if there was anywhere she wanted to see before going to dinner, and she responded with “Jackson Square, of course!” She had no idea that was actually where Mark had planned on taking her before dinner anyway. So before heading to Galatoire’s, Mark got down on one knee in Jackson Square in front of St. Louis Cathedral and asked Stefani to marry him.
