The couple was having their engagement photos taken at Rockwood Mansion, after having hair and makeup done by Liz Kuerschner.
Their photographer, Jessica Plasha, worked with another photographer, Liz Sologub, to plan a styled shoot for right after the engagement photos. Since both the soon-to-be bride and soon-to-be groom love the Halloween aesthetic, they were excited to do the themed photos.
Jessica and Katie (of Heart and Sola Creations) connected on social media, and Katie signed on to contribute wood florals including geometric pillars wrapped with floral garlands, a bouquet, a boutonniere, a geometric cake stand, and the finishing touches for the cake.
The cake was a team effort, with Jessica creating the actual cake form, Liz S. giving it the matte black finish, and Katie decorating it with wood flowers & faux accents to match the bouquet and the other table decor. The invitations that Jessica designed fit right in with the theme, and skulls were a uniting element throughout.
Taking the styled photos at the golden hour worked out perfectly, and they were able to capture photos all over the park, utilizing everything from open fields, to outside of the gothic mansion (which is now a museum), to a haunting, twisted tree.
The whole shoot really came together and was a true collaboration. Everyone felt comfortable contributing ideas and the photographers did a fantastic job managing everyone and everything.
