Backyard New York Wedding

Ruth and Anthony had their dream New York wedding planned out in the perfect venue.

All of the details fit perfectly with their vision.

Due to the Pandemic, Ruth and Anthony were faced with the challenge of recreating their venue on Anthony’s property.

With the help of their wedding planner and amazing vendor team, they were able to reimagine the elegant wedding they originally planned and had more than they could ever dream of.

Ruth and Anthony met working at the same company about 10 years ago.

They didn’t hit it off right away but slowly became friends after realizing they both had a love for the movie The Mummy (Brendan Fraser version of course).

They started spending more and more time together and soon fell in love!

Their proposal happened in one of their favorite places to visit, Sleepy Hollow.

Their original wedding plan was in a beautiful venue in a grand ballroom located in Buffalo, New York, but they had to reimagine their wedding into a smaller affair.

They decided to have an intimate yet elegant wedding. Picture a celebrity marrying in secrecy to hide from the paparazzi.

The color palette they chose was an array of purples.

We love all of the shades of purple and seeing the contrast of them together felt right.

Their ceremony decor was simple and romantic.

They had a vision of glam and pops of gold that was executed perfectly.

Ruth and Anthony really wanted to recreate their wedding venue in Anthony’s parent’s backyard and not have to scale back on her vision.

Their florals tied the event together.

The arbor where they shared their vows was created by their florist and made for a beautiful photo opportunity.

It was filled with different color hydrangeas and neutral-colored roses with pops of greenery.

Their dessert table by B Sweet Designs was a perfect fit for them.

They had desserts with the letter P and lemon cupcakes of course (Ruth loves lemon)! The dessert table was placed in front of a “Treat Yo Self” sign- one of the couple’s favorite phrases to quote.

Ruth really wanted a statement piece for their New York wedding and this table took the cake (no pun intended).

Ruth wanted to add one other special element to her New York wedding.

She had a piece of her purple sweater that she wore on her first date with Anthony cut into a heart and sewn into the inside of her dress for that extra special touch.

Ruth’s advice to couples wedding planning, do whatever makes you happy!

Figure out early on, what details you feel will make or break your wedding and take it from there.

The week of the wedding, make sure to take time out for just the two of you to do something not wedding-related.

Disconnect for a few hours and enjoy some quiet before the fun and craziness begins.

Most importantly hire a wedding planner and their team after you have told your friends and family of your engagement.

Don’t book anything else until you have hired your planner. The wedding planning process is a lot easier and enjoyable because of it.

And on the actual day, there’s no need to worry. You’ll get to relax and enjoy the wedding with your new spouse.
