Nadine & Pat’s Chicago museum wedding played up a modern twist on a Gatsby theme at The Art Institute.
How they met: Pat is one of my older brothers friends so we have known each other since probably around 4th grade. We always were friendly and all my friends had crushes on him in high school which I love holding over them now. We both went to the University of Iowa and his senior year my sophomore we started spending more time together and it evolved into dating.
From the bride: Our wedding was a mix of old & new. The Art Institute lent itself to the classical architecture and art deco style of the room – mixed with more modern flowers. I was inspired by Great Gatsby with a contemporary twist. I also erred more on the less is more since our venue was already so extraordinary and ornate I didn’t feel I needed to stress out over small details. Our favorite part of the day was the cocktail hour – we had just finished the ceremony and cocktail hour was in the grand staircase. It was dusk and the lighting was just magical with the glass ceiling. It was like ‘Night at the Museum’ of being at one of our favorite places with all of our favorite people having a party!
