Lake Erie Wedding; As uncertainty continued in 2020, the couple did not feel comfortable moving forward with their original venue if they weren’t able to have the wedding of their dreams.
They decided to scale back the wedding and change their vision. They had their wedding in July 2021 on the beach behind their Lake Erie summer home.
Though it was the rainiest day in Buffalo, NY, it ended up being the most beautiful wedding!
From the bride: The florals were my favorite part of the day! I wanted to incorporate them in anything I could, bridal and bridesmaids bouquets, boutonnieres for the men, floral pots at the altar, centerpieces, on the welcome sign and guest table, and even a few flowers in the cake. They added such a bright, natural touch to the day!
The most personal parts of the day were the venue and the officiant. We got married at my family’s cottage on the lake where I spent my childhood and where Peter and I spent many of our summer days in high school.
Our officiant was Peter’s grandma. It was such a special moment and I can’t imagine having anyone else marry us. She’s known Peter and me as a couple since we were 14!
How we met/ the proposal: We met in 8th grade and dated throughout high school! When we got back together after college, we did long distance for about a year before I moved to New Jersey to be with him.
For the proposal, Peter had saved all of our high school and relationship memories like cards, tickets and pictures. I came home from work one evening and Peter had all of these memories sprawled across our apartment and made dinner!
Advice: Don’t let it stress you out! Our wedding was originally cancelled by covid and then our actual wedding day was 50 degrees, windy and down pouring on our beach wedding. Some things are out of your control. Just enjoy the day!!
