Joshua Tree Elopement: At Adventure Instead, we believe that a wedding day should be about the experience that a couple can share together—and one of the best parts of having an elopement is that the couple gets to choose new, unique, and exciting experiences that only need to be perfect and approved for them—not a huge guest list.
Misty and Dan flew into California all the way from Canada for their elopement! They love traveling together and chose to elope for the adventure. They are high school sweethearts and wanted a day that was low-stress and just about them.
They wanted a desert background for their special day because it was something that they hadn’t explored with each other yet, and had always heard incredible things about the deserts in Southern California, so they eloped in Joshua Tree on their anniversary.
They really wanted to keep their anniversary, and luckily January is a perfect time for the California desert. Joshua Tree is beautiful in the winter and early spring when everything is blooming.
They chose to wear all-black attire and helped each other pick out their outfits which was so unique and adorable since they were able to share the getting ready experience. It was so sweet to watch Dan tie up the back of her dress and to see Misty get emotional as he buttoned up his suit jacket!
Then they had a really cute charcuterie board picnic, and after, they picked the spot where they wanted to say their vows which was this rocky area away from anyone else that was there.
They exchanged rings, popped a bottle of champagne, had their first dance, and did some more exploring of the scenery. The sun started to set, and the moon rose into the sky—the haze unexpectedly broke to reveal a fiery sunset!
Afterward, they went to their cute AirBnb to wind down, where they had some pizza and a late-night soak in the hot tub which was the perfect ending to their day.
