From the bride: My intimate backyard wedding was truly about family. Due to Covid, We had to ditch the big bash we had planned (400 guests) for something small and intimate, so we decided to have it at my parent’s house.
I grew up in a historic neighborhood in Houston called the Third Ward. It was really special to be able to marry the love of my life right in my parents’ backyard.
We started off by bringing in a clear top tent and draping the walls to make it feel really light and airy. The ceremony took place in the back of the tent, and the dinner/dancing was in the front which was draped off in chiffon, so nobody knew what the space looked like until it was time to eat. Basically we had flowers everywhere! I just loved it!
The most special moment of our wedding day was just seeing Matt as I came down the aisle. As a doctor, I have been on the front lines of this fight at work since day one, and I just wanted to marry the love of my life – no matter how big or small the celebration would be. So when I walked out of my childhood home and into that tent and saw Matt, I was filled with so much emotion. Our day had FINALLY arrived.
I’m a bride that knew I needed major help form the start. So I would recommend that brides who are serious about having an amazing wedding experience to hire a professional planner that really knows what they’re doing. Especially when things are constantly changing as they have been throughout the last year, having my planner was a total life (and stress) saver.
