Highlands Ranch Mansion Wedding

Luke and Alexis St. John, two future doctors, were married at Highlands Ranch Mansion wedding venue in July, 2021.

How the couple met:

We were in the same medical school class. One day we matched on a dating app, only because I didn’t recognize him! The next day he sat beside me in an Ethics class and asked if i’d like to grab a drink afterward. Of course I said yes. I was immediately enamored with him. He quickly became my best friend there after.

Falling in love:

I realized I loved him during a date night in downtown Denver. It was Christmas time and we bundled up with some warm tea to wander around an outdoor holiday market. This was my first Christmas season away from home, however he was starting to feel like home.

Engagement:

We went on a camping trip the week before school starting again. Regardless of the mosquito bite on my forehead, it was a great time! Before packing up, he asked if i’d like to take some pictures by the river for memories. We took a series of photos with a timer, but Luke sneakily started recording during his last trip to my phone.

The proposal was eloquent and sweet, in true Luke fashion, but unfortunately the water was so noisy behind us that the recording didn’t pick up his voice. I like it better that way, that memory will stay between the two of us.

What do you love most about one another?

Lexi: I love Luke’s calming demeanor and caring nature. He is my source of peace in our very hectic lives.

Luke: I’ve admired her creativity and artistic talents since I first met her, but it’s her patience, acceptance, and daily expressions of love that I could not thrive without. She laughs with me, shares her ideas and passions with me, and gives her time and energy selflessly to me each day. But what do I love most? The friendship I share with her– falling in love with my best friend is the best feeling in the world.

Wedding Dress: Custom satin dress and elbow length gloves inspired by 1960’s Vogue illustrations. Bride wore her great grandmother’s Tourmaline jewelry, a present from her great grandfather.

Flowers: Blue Belladonna delphinium, Lavender Stock, White Stock, Black Baccara Roses, Red Explorer Roses, Pink Anova Roses, Cream Vendela roses, Blue Tweedia, Purple sweet peas, Salal leaves.
