About their Greenpoint Loft Wedding: Antonina & John have lived a life and built a love story truly central to their hometown, Brooklyn, New York. They met at work at their first job with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and fell in love with the theme of Brooklyn always in the backdrop.
From having been born and raised in Brooklyn, to epic dates around the borough, and having to cancel their Santorini wedding due to covid, and move it back home – their wedding was the culmination of many years and relationships culminated in their favorite place.
After the devastation of having to cancel wedding plan A, they moved on to wedding plan B at the Greenpoint Loft in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Their loft wedding was inspired by all the things they love – from simplicity, to rustic yet elegant, their favorite foods from Brooklyn, and a menu based on their heritages – Italian & Greek. All of the many details of their wedding were thoughtful and intentional and meant a lot to them and their families.
From the bride: Decor: We went with a ton of greenery broken up with white, blush, and chocolate roses, and sprinkled in pampas and dried palms for a boho/whimsical look. Everything looked super bright and fresh while allowing the industrial, landmarked event space to speak for itself.
There was an element of DIY in that I designed our acrylic welcome signs and seating chart, as well as the signage for the bar and food stations. I also designed our favors and thank you/recipe card note inside.
Her dress: I chose my wedding dress completely on a whim. My mom and I were bored one weekend and we said maybe we should just go browse at a nearby boutique, so we called and made an appointment for the next day and went.
I noticed a pattern sticking out from the rows and rows of white and I said…. hmm, that’s interesting. I picked about 4 other dresses but tried that one on first. When I came out of the dressing room I told my mom and the dress rep “This is the one!” They both laughed, and I said no I’m not kidding. I went through the motions of trying on the other dresses, but nothing felt like THAT dress.
My great grandmothers (who I did have the pleasure to know in my young lifetime) used to knit, and they left me these gorgeous knit tablecloths and the pattern of the dress reminded me of those – it was heartwarming and made me feel connected to the dress in a sentimental way, that none of the other dresses did. I know if they would have ever had the chance to see me get married, they would’ve loved it.
