Grace and Tahan’s Asheville Elopement

Grace and Tahan’s Asheville elopement took place in the stunning mountains of North Carolina. The bride and groom were married at a beautiful private cabin in Hot Springs, NC. Having met during graduate school in Chicago, they have been together for a year and a half. Tahan proposed to Grace during their weekly hike.

Their Asheville elopement was just so perfectly them. Why did they want to get married in the Asheville area? “Tahan went to undergrad in Virginia where he was always close to the blue ridge mountains. The landscape also reminds him of his hometown in India, so this area is very special to him. Grace loves the way mountains put everything into perspective and the gentleness of the Appalachians. We chose the cabin on VRBO because of how simple it would make our day. No traveling required!”

It was an elopement, but we still wanted it to feel special. I wanted a long, white gown, but I also wanted to skip walking down the aisle. It was a perfect mix of modern and traditional. We wanted the mountains to shine, so we tried to choose colors and textures that would work with the natural landscape. Since we are a multicultural couple, we needed to blend together traditions from India and from the U.S., and Jay was able to craft the perfect ceremony. We had an opening prayer,  an ending prayer, and a handwashing ceremony. We had Indian elements woven throughout, like Tahan’s suit–which was designed in India– and Indian art on the cake table.”
