Claire and Jake’s Charming Southern Wedding day in front of the Blue Ridge Mountains was an absolute dream to capture. It was clear that these two are so loved by their friends and families because every detail of this wedding was done by them and so much effort went into it. These two met in Rome where they both happened to be studying abroad.
Farmington Country Club was once a house known to Thomas Jefferson and his associates before it one day became a country club. Because it is so close to the University of Virginia, where Claire’s father went to school, it has thus become a very memorial location for their family. Claire practically grew up at the country club, so it was an easy choice for her wedding venue.
Claire’s satin gown needed no veil, it stood well on its own! It was such a fashion forward dress, it was perfect for her! All of her stationary was designed by a family friend, who just happens to be extremely talented and perfectly wrapped up the theme of the day in their invitation suite.
The florals were so beautiful, simplistic and charming. They had soft reds and coral hues, luscious greens and stunning fall flowers. The set up was magical.
When I first arrived to the location, Claire was peaceful, getting ready with her bridesmaids and mom. I began shooting her flat lays for her wedding details. The morning progressed to a sweet first look with Dad, who was very emotional and caused the rest of us to tear up too! Right after that, we went into the first look with Jake.
We walked around the venue’s front lawn for portraits before the ceremony, which was truly breathtaking. The ceremony took place during golden hour (could it be any better a time?!) The cross in front of the aisle set the tone for the ceremony, as there was not much else needed to decorate such a gorgeous view. Directly behind them were the blue ridge mountains.
As Claire walked down the aisle with her dad, it was clear that this was everyone’s little girl all grown up. It was incredibly sweet. After the happiest first kiss, the two walked away into their cocktail hour as the country club staff finished setting up their reception.
Their reception details were absolutely stunning. It was like a candle-lit dinner. With both touching and hilarious toasts, there was a warmth that surrounded the entire ballroom. Watching them dance and cut their cake, it was easy to see that these two are best friends and I couldn’t be more honored to have captured their perfect day!
