Jessica and Scott were married at their stunning, Spanish Casa Feliz wedding.
Casa Feliz wedding venue is a historic, tropical home in Florida.
How we met: Scott and I have both been huge Disney fans our entire lives and grew up going to the parks regularly. We met while working at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World.
At first, our paths didn’t really cross much and I rarely saw him in passing. However, at one point, we had to move offices and ended up having desks behind each other. This allowed us to get to know each other much better.
My best friend became Scott’s team’s admin shortly after the move and orchestrated a master plan for us to date. Of course it took a while for me to muster the courage to pursue anything, but with her help, I eventually went for it.
First date: I like to say that we had two first dates. The first was a more casual lunch ‘date’ during work where Scott and I went to Chipotle on our breaks just the two of us.
At the time, we both had BOGO coupons to use and Scott knew I couldn’t say no to Chipotle. We weren’t even an official couple at that time, it was the first time we had an opportunity to have one on one time.
Our first official date was at a restaurant in Orlando called Bar Taco. I am a HUGE Mexican food fan so I like to think that Scott has always known the way to my heart. We indulged in all sorts of awesome tacos and margaritas.
I’ll never forget feeling so surprised by how easy he was to talk to – I literally think our first lasted a good four hours. I also remember calling my mom the day after and telling her, “Mom, I think I found my person!”
The proposal: Scott and I relocated to the Chicago area about a year ago. We went back to Orlando for the first time this past April for my friend’s wedding. The day after her wedding, we planned to meet up with all of our old friends for brunch at one of our favorite restaurants in Disney Springs.
When we arrived at Disney Springs, Scott texted my friend who drove us that she needed to pretend she left something in the car so that we could walk to the restaurant by ourselves.
So sure enough, as we were about to take the escalator, her boyfriend “forgets his sunglasses.” Not wanting to be late for our reservation, I offer to walk ahead and tell them to just meet us there.
Well, on the walk over, we stop by the springs to take it all in (they’re super pretty and basically the equivalent of the castle at Magic Kingdom). I remember we were talking about how weird it felt to be back and commenting on how much we missed it. Seconds later, Scott got down on one knee and asks me to marry him.
I remember being so shocked I started crying so hard I was laughing. I’m pretty sure it took me a good minute before I could even say the words yes.
