Despite the weather, Bree & Nathan’s woodland lodge wedding took place at Spearfish Canyon Lodge in Lead, South Dakota.
Even with the storm, this woodland lodge wedding ceremony was able to happen outside as originally planned. Chairs were covered with chocolate brown chair covers. Tall taper candles lit up the head table for this woodland lodge wedding reception.
From the photographer: From natural disasters to moving an entire reception in 3 hours it happened at this wedding! Bree and Nathan always knew they wanted to get married in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Little did any of us know that Mother Nature had her own plans. The night before the wedding during the rehearsal storms, hail and a tornado swept through and knocked out all of the power, and downed trees. When we woke up in the morning the power was still out and it was still raining. Bree still had hopes that the weather would break for an outdoor ceremony but the decision was made to move the reception from the hall across the street to the lobby of the resort because of the outage. As the bride was calmly getting her hair done in the resort office ( generator power) all of the vendors pulled together and helped move the entire reception décor, tables, chairs, flowers and all to the lobby. It was an incredible team effort! The weather held for the ceremony to be outdoors and just after we came inside it started to hail again. The reception area was beautiful and candles lit up everything. The power came back on during the ceremony so the Lodge served a delicious dinner.
