Bold colors brightened Anna & Ryan’s colorful rustic wedding at the Riverside on the Potomac in Virginia.
How he asked: Ryan was deployed in Bahrain for a year but had 12 days of “break,” that he could go anywhere. He chose to come back to VA. He planned a DC staycation for us, which I figured was because he had been gone for 7 months and it was also a little past our dating anniversary. We woke up pretty early and it was a beautiful day so we decided to walk the monuments. It was a weekday so it wasn’t as crowded as usual. We were standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial when a man asked us to take his picture. We took his photo and started talking and found out he had just retired and was traveling the country to enjoy his love of photography. He offered to take our picture and Ryan thought this was the perfect moment, so as I am getting ready to pose for a picture, he asks me to hold something for him. When I turned around he was down on one knee and the man was able to capture the moment!
From the bride on planning her wedding: I was doing a lot of research online and a lot of phone calls and emails early in the morning since I was already 5-6 hours in Hawaii, I had a small window to catch people during the work day. Also, trying not to focus too much on the small stuff and remember why I was doing all of that in the first place.
