Alyssa & Erich’s classic summer wedding took place at Lake Mohawk Country Club so the couple could get married by the lake.
The couple included many family heirlooms in their classic summer wedding. The bride used her grandmother’s wedding band and wore her great grandmother’s engagement ring. At the entrance to the ceremony, both the bride and groom’s mothers’ wedding veils were displayed on the welcome sign. The bride’s tallit was used as the canopy of the chuppah. To incorporate both families into the tradition, they included netting from Erich’s grandmother’s wedding dress on the canopy. The kiddish cup they used during the ceremony is the bride’s great-grandfather’s and is from 1890. The cake topper is from the bride’s grandparents’ wedding from 1950 but still looks great! They also displayed wedding pictures from their grandparents, great-grandparents and parents!
How they met: Like any great love story, Erich and I meet at a bar in Hoboken. We were actually introduced by two of our good friends who were dating at the time. We connected instantly and dated for awhile, but I actually broke up with him in anticipation of moving out of state for graduate school. Three years later we reconnected at a New Years Eve party hosted by the same friends and the rest was history. Although we initially broke up, I knew that Erich was the one the first night that we met. I remember seeing him outside of a pizza place at the end of the night (lol) and immediately thinking “I’m going to marry him.” That initial thought caught me by surprise in the moment, but I never forgot it.
