The towering trees were a beautiful backdrop for Heather & Nathan’s woodsy Michigan wedding at Stony Creek Park over the summer.
The groom built the arch for this woodsy Michigan wedding ceremony. After the ceremony under the trees, guests moved to the reception area. Tables were topped with moss, playing into this woodsy Michigan wedding.
From the bride: I would say the inspiration behind our day was our down-to-earth love. We love each other purely, with no frills. Which is why we chose to get married under a cathedral of pines. I chose the colors from the earth itself – succulents and moss. Each bridesmaid wore a dress unique to their style and nature. We incorporated both of our cultures into our wedding day. I have Scottish and Irish heritage and Nathan has roots in Italy. Also, we included a hand fasting into our ceremony. A handfasting ceremony has its roots in ancient Celtic tradition, symbolizing the binding together of two people (and the origin of the phrase “tying the knot!”).
