In the heart of Silverton, Colorado, on June 22, 2023, Alicia and Andrew Abirsti embarked on an unforgettable journey of love and adventure. Their elopement was not just a wedding, but a testament to their resilience and adaptability in the face of life’s unexpected twists.
Originally, the couple planned an ambitious 8-mile hike in the San Juan mountains for their elopement. However, an unexpected injury to Alicia’s calf muscle three months prior to the event forced them to rethink their plans. Undeterred, they chose to embrace the unexpected and turned their setback into an opportunity for an even more memorable adventure.
With most hiking trails covered in snow, the couple decided to go off-roading in their trusty Jeep, in search of a unique location to exchange their vows. Their early morning journey, which began at 2:30 AM, led them to breathtaking hidden gems in the mountains.
The day unfolded without a fixed blueprint, allowing the couple to fully immerse themselves in the experience. As the sun rose over Silverton, they shared their first look against the backdrop of snow-capped peaks, a moment that was as magical as it was intimate. They then exchanged their vows on a carpet of packed snow, a frosty fairytale come to life.
The adventure didn’t end there. The couple continued their celebration at a partially frozen lake, where they toasted to their love with custom-made shot glasses featuring their beloved orange-tabby. The views were so spectacular, it felt as if they were in another galaxy.
After hours of soaking in nature’s beauty and reveling in their love, they returned to town for a well-deserved cup of coffee with their incredible team of vendors. These included the talented floral designer from Little Bucket of Flowers, the ring designer from Love Locked, the fashion designer from Indochino, the dress store Blue Bridal, the equipment rentals from Blue Bridals, the veil and headpiece designer from BlancaVeils, the dress designer Calla Blanche, the videographer from Backcountry Vows, the makeup artist from Wild Brides Backcountry, and the photographer from Vows and Peaks. These individuals were not just vendors, but had become lifelong friends and an integral part of their journey.
Alicia and Andrew’s elopement was a celebration of love, resilience, and the beauty of nature. It was a day filled with unforgettable moments and breathtaking views, a day that truly embodied the spirit of their adventurous love story.
