It’s not every day that you get the privilege of photographing a family member’s wedding. I was so honored to capture this sweet Washington elopement in Snohomish for my cousin Tyler and his now-wife, Courtney!
These two have such spirits for adventure, and I was beyond excited when they told me about their vision; to elope in a hot air balloon! I can’t imagine anything more epic than that!
Unfortunately, the Washington weather didn’t want to cooperate with this plan. Courtney and Tyler were so great about the change, though – when the hot air balloon plan didn’t work out, I suggested that the dock of the Airbnb would be beautiful.
This wound up being a perfect setting to get married, despite the hectic few minutes we spent scrambling to come up with our plan B!
I have to take a moment to gush about how amazing they both look! Courtney does hair for a living, so she did her own wedding hair and wore this beautiful vintage-inspired gown from Love Shack Fancy.
The neutral tones of her bouquet and Tyler’s suit were so perfect – it allowed the beautiful sunny day and their happiness to really shine.
This simple elopement was so full of joy! The look on both their faces when they saw each other for the first time and exchanged their vows was just unforgettable.
The emotion behind their vows and the simplicity of an intimate celebration is why I adore laid-back elopements like this one!
In the spirit of a truly spontaneous elopement, they decided to take a leap into the lake together in their wedding clothes after the ceremony! I loved this part of their day so much.
Sometimes improvising turns out to be the best part of an elopement, and letting the day take you where it will can create the best memories.
Courtney and Tyler’s elopement here in my home state of Washington was definitely a favorite of mine to photograph. I’m so excited for these two to start a new chapter!
