The bride and groom on their Forsyth Park wedding: How did you meet?
We met at a summer job I took before moving to New York City. We remained friends and kept in touch periodically after I moved, which eventually turned into more frequent communication. One day, a mysterious package arrived in the mail – it was a coffee mug with an inside joke between us printed on it.
It was then that I realized how special it was to have someone in my life who paid attention to the little things while also knowing how to make me laugh! Shortly after, he asked me to be his date for a mutual friend’s wedding. We’ve been together ever since. He’s my best friend and I couldn’t imagine going through life without him by my side. We make a great team!
Why did you choose to elope?
We wanted to do something just for the two of us before we became a family of three – we are having a baby boy in September. We had planned a babymoon trip to Savannah for our 5 year dating anniversary and thought this would be the perfect time to make our marriage official while also keeping this anniversary date special to us forever. Having a stress-free day focused on just the two of us and the love we share was the most incredible experience, I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
We plan to do a big reception with friends and family next year once we have settled into becoming a family of three and once we have a better idea of what is going to happen with covid, but it meant a lot to us to start our marriage off in a stress-free way just the two of us. It has taken so much pressure off of planning a future celebration too and really helped put into perspective what weddings are really all about – two people signing up to share a lifetime of love and happiness.
How did you choose your elopement location?
Nathan has always talked about wanting to bring someone special in his life on a trip to Savannah, we had just never been able to make the trip before this year. Now Savannah will always hold a very special place in both our hearts!
