How do you make a simple, Texas wedding burst with bright colors without going over the top? Event planner and founder of Rachel Events, Rachel Leuck created a simple, yet eye-catching event with a traditional chapel, a contemporary reception venue, and just enough color to keep the day as vibrant and beautiful as the bride.
Modern Weddings: How exactly did you begin putting this wedding together? What was your first step?
Rachel Leuck: When I first met the bride she was adorable and so sweet, but had no idea what she wanted at all. So we started with colors… she quickly responded that she wanted all of them! I knew we would have to find a way to blend all the colors she wanted together without making the guests go cross-eyed when they walked in out reception!
MW: How did you come up with the theme/color scheme?
RL: Based on the fact that she wanted a rainbow, I knew we would need to use our colors carefully. I designed a theme around her modern dress and the laidback-ness of the bride! I am actually the one who found her shoes for her, I was shopping and came across them. From there we decided royal blue would be her primary color, and that we would pop the other colors too.
MW: What special details did you include as a result of what the bride wanted?
RL: She was pretty laid back, so that allowed me to use a lot of texture and depth in her centerpieces. They looked fabulous in the eclectic venue’s multi-colored uplighting!
MW: How did you create those special details?
RL: I designed her wedding around the simplicity of the bride. My team and I sat down and made plans to keep it simple, yet very attractive and eye-catching to look at. Again, with all the color in the flowers and bouquets, we had to keep the rest of it simple so that the color would pop and be our main attraction!
MW: What was your favorite part/detail about this wedding?
RL: My favorite parts were the shoes and the veil. The veil was her mother’s original veil that was attached to a whole headpiece thing. It didn’t go with the dress or the theme, so I cleared it through the bride, and then I personally cut apart the moms veil and re-sewed it back together on the day of the bridal portrait shoot, and it turned out amazing! I just love how we were able to include her mom in some way, and the lace detail really made the modern dress and modern flowers a little softer and more bridal like.
