Ayisha & Darryn’s elegant ballroom wedding took place at Barclay Villa in Angier, North Carolina over the summer.
How he asked: After four years of being with Ayisha, Darryn decided to propose. He was very nervous the day of they were driving up to Hanover, NH from the Bronx to move him into business school, on a rainy day. On the drive up, he was so nervous he got into a minor car accident (which cost them $200). Darryn continued to be nervous after the accident as the ring burned a hole in his pocket. The rain continues when they arrive in Hanover, where their friend (and secret proposal photographer) met them. Since the rain continued, Darryn ended up proposing inside Stell Hall at Dartmouth, in front of future schoolmates and the Associate Dean of Students.
From the couple: We focused on having a classic elegant wedding with black excellence undertones. Our favorite part of the wedding was the entire crowd being on the dance floor from start to finish! We chose Barclay Villa because of its elegance and ability to give us the seamless indoor/outdoor wedding experience we were looking for. The venue was versatile enough to accommodate the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception while making the guests feel like they were having three entirely different experiences.
