But, it’s all easier than said than done. Wedding planning is a lot of hard work, and you’ll find there may be plenty of tears along the way. What can make it more difficult, though, is if you’re suffering from a severe lack of cash flow. Getting married does not come cheap, that’s for sure! But don’t despair. Just because you’re not rolling in it, doesn’t mean that you’re going to have to make sacrifices. Yes, you may have to be a little flexible and take one or two compromises, but let’s face it, that’s life. Nothing comes easy, and even if you had all the money in the world, it’s not going to guarantee that things go to plan. It may make things easier, but ultimately, what will be will be.

The first thing you have to do is find your ideal wedding venue. Now, when you’re looking through the brochure, don’t be too disheartened when you see the price list. Like many things you’ll find when you’re organising your nuptials, you might just be able to get a better price if you haggle. Lots of people aren’t too comfortable doing this, but really? What’s the worst that could happen? Might they say no? Well, that’s not the end of the world, is it? It pays to show a little savvy and get the right price. It also pays to be flexible. You’re going to pay a premium if you want to get married slap bang in the middle of summer on a Saturday. That’s peak time for weddings. If you can make it a weekday, you’ll save lots. If you decided to say I do out of summer season, you’d see a dramatic reduction in prices. Which could leave you more money to spend on all the other things your heart desires!

When you’re deciding who to invite, you might have to make some pretty hard decisions. It can be tough to know who to ask and whose name to leave off, but that’s just how it is. You may have to tell people they can’t bring a plus one unless they are specially invited. You can buy affordable wedding invites online to keep your budget in check. Some people may find it awkward going by themselves if they don’t know many other people there. Why not sit all your single guests together. Who knows, it could be the start of something beautiful. You could end up with another wedding that you’re responsible for. How nice would that be? Who doesn’t like playing cupid for their friends?

Some venues may have fripperies like table decorations thrown in with the price of your wedding package. But if not, or you just want to be a little more individual, then you can use your own. You can often pick up great bargains on local for sale sites. Many people will buy all sorts of accessories and decorations for their reception then sell them afterwards. Usually for a fraction of the cost that you’d pay for new, you can save a tonne of cash. And here’s the best bit, no one will know the difference. That is, of course, if you manage to keep your fabulous shopping skills to yourself. It might be tempting to boast about your big savings but try not to.Think about this stuff as preloved, not second hand!

When you’re looking for your perfect dress, you may find the price tags somewhat shocking. Well, step away from the boutique, there are plenty of other places you can find the most fabulous frock. Try eBay or online. Check out charity shops. But whatever you do, don’t buy a cheap reproduction dress that seems too good to be true. There are too many horror stories, and you stand very little chance of getting your money back. If you know a local seamstress, talk to them. Something bespoke may be more affordable than you might have thought, and how beautiful! Something as unique as you for your big day.
