The Benefits of Getting Eloped

Not everyone is suited to a huge wedding. Some people may not want to have all the attention on them. Others may have family issues or geographical issues and some may just not have the financial means.

For these reasons and many more, an increasing number of couples are deciding to get eloped. This might include simply going to court or taking a trip out to a beautiful tropical island and having a private ceremony.

In this article, we look at the benefits of getting eloped to see why couple are doing it.

  1. You Will Save a Lot of Money

One of the most common reasons for couples getting eloped is their inability to afford a wedding. Even a small wedding these days can cost a small fortune. If you decide to get eloped you will save a huge amount of money from not having the big wedding ceremony.

Even for couples that can afford a big wedding, the money saved from not having one can be redirected into a traveling experience, a new home, preparation for a baby or just added to your savings account.

While getting eloped may incur some costs depending on your plans, it’s likely that costs will be a lot less than a full wedding.

  1. Less Planning

Anyone that has had a wedding will tell you that the worse part of a wedding is the planning. It can be incredibly stressful and time-consuming, even causing arguments and friction between you and your partner, and the wider family.

While you will need to plan how you will elope, it will be far less stressful and time-consuming than organizing a wedding for a couple of hundred people.

  1. It’s Flexible

When you don’t have to worry about all the planning, costs, location and so on you can make your wedding flexible. You can get married anywhere at any time. If you wanted that could include having a private ceremony on a beach in Greece or in simply in your back garden.

When you decide to get eloped you have the freedom and flexibility to do what you want and in any place. Eloping is common for couples that are from different countries as it helps them to avoid all the implications of family traveling across the world and the huge expenses for those family members to attend.

  1. It’s Special

When it’s just you two, your private wedding can be as special as you want it to. There is something quite beautiful about sharing a unique moment just between you two where you express your love and commit to each other.

You will still have someone administering and your witnesses. You can even still hire a photographer such as Christophe Viseux Photography so you can share your special moment with family and friends after.

Eloping once meant that you were running away to get married without parental consent. In 2020, you can make eloping mean anything you want it to be. If that’s a low-cost, stress-free beautiful experience between just you and your partner then that’s fine. It doesn’t matter what others think.
