Emily & Nick’s Classic Minneapolis Wedding

Traditional colors in an urban venue brought together Emily & Nick’s classic Minneapolis wedding in September.

How he asked: Nick told Emily they were going to dinner to meet a friend from college and his  girlfriend while they were in town. Nick acted normally the rest of the day, telling Emily it was a nicer restaurant and that he planned to dress up, wearing a blue sport coat with his jeans (this is usual behavior since Emily likes their outfits to coordinate). Once they arrived in St. Anthony Main to go to the restaurant, Nick suggested they “take the scenic route” to the restaurant, walking on the cobblestone sidewalk next to the river. Knowing Emily’s love for pictures, Nick suggested they stop and take a picture at a scenic place overlooking the skyline and river. Emily turned to take a panoramic picture on her phone and turned back around to Nick on one knee holding a ring. After saying yes, Emily noticed a photographer capturing the whole thing.

From the bride: We wanted the day to have a classic, timeless feel. Think old Hollywood meets Great Gatsby.  We felt like the space and our color palette of black, white and gold played into this very well. We added in the wine and pink colors of the flowers to round out the room with a romantic feel, using the colors of autumn to bring everything together. The pace was decorated minimally using flowers and greenery as a main focus. The center pieces for dinner were all gold with floral incorporated to continue the classy, romantic theme. The Gold table cloths up front brought in a little more of the flashy “Gatsby” feel, making sure the wedding party felt special. The bride and groom sat on top of the stairs at a sweetheart table making another romantic (and grand) statement. I feel like one of the only brides who did not want to DIY anything for my wedding. All the decor and floral was done by Event Lab with my input.
