Gervasi Vineyard was the perfect setting for Mary Beth & Russell’s rustic vineyard wedding last May.
How they met: Russell and I first met at a mutual friend’s Christmas party. I had driven down from Cleveland to Columbus through a snowy blizzard that night and almost didn’t make it there because the roads were so terrible. I only knew a few of the guests at the party but eventually found myself in a conversation with Russell, who came to the party with several of his friends and roommates. We spent the majority of the night talking and getting to know each other and the spark that had ignited between us was undeniable. A week after Christmas I was back in Columbus and Russell asked if he could take me out to dinner. We had our first date several weeks later at the Columbus Fish Market. It was the best, and last, first date I ever had.
From the bride: We chose to get married at the outdoor Pavilion at Gervasi Vineyard, since it held a strong sentiment in both of our hearts as the place where we got engaged. It also happens to have exquisitely beautiful grounds, fantastic food and wine, and in our opinion, the perfect setting and ambiance for the wedding of our dreams. While we incorporated some beautiful flowers and other d?cor, we were intentional in not “over decorating” our venue, because it was already so beautiful in its natural state. We focused on accentuating the beauty around us – the beauty of the outdoors. We had pops of greenery and wood throughout – we used a lot of succulents, wood slices, and willow branches. The most important detail that Russell and I created was our ceremony. We wanted it to be personal, intimate, and to reflect our personalities. We asked my brother, Brian, if he would get ordained and marry us. We worked with him to craft the entire ceremony.
