From the bride: I’ll never forget sitting on the Mandap, facing all of our friends and family; the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, the breeze was blowing. You spend so much time worrying about everything that can go wrong at your wedding, but I actually had the luxury of enjoying a moment when I really felt like everything was perfect.

The couple incorporated traditional elements in their classic Indo-American wedding ceremony.

There were three things the bride knew that she wanted from the outset: 1) An outdoor ceremony 2) Colorful and festive 3) A juxtaposition of the traditional opulence of Indian weddings (the ornate clothing, and jewelry, etc.) with a more natural and ethereal decor, without it feeling incompatible. Most of the decor was done beautifully by professionals, but a lot of her favorite details were things she added herself, either from Etsy (like the “&” sign between our chairs at the reception) or DIY’d. She made the rose petal cones that hung from the chairs at the ceremony, and actually designed her own wedding programs that explained to her guests the ceremonial steps they were witnessing.
