Wedding dress shopping can be fantastic as you are trying on so many gorgeous dresses. But it can also be a stressful time trying to decide which dress to get. It can be quite overwhelming going to a wedding dress shop and you don’t know where to start. Here is some advice for when you go wedding dress shopping!

Don’t take too many people

As much as your aunt, a friend of the family, and your mother-in-law want to come along to see you try on your dresses, you need to put your foot down! Having too many people with you can make the experience even more stressful. You only need a couple of people’s opinions otherwise, you will struggle to make the decision. Take along your mom, a sister and a best friend. They will be able to advise you without taking over. You need to make the decision ultimately, so even if they aren’t sure, you should go with what’s in your heart.

Go to different shops

You might go to one wedding dress shop and see a lot of dresses you love. But you may go to a different one, and find the right one that you should buy. Therefore, you should not make the decision without trying on a couple of dresses. Going to several shops can also mean you get a different experience. Some stores will give you the royal treatment with champagne and even some snacks while busier shops may not be able to give you much time. Whatever you do, you should book an appointment. That way, you will be able to have the shop to yourself for a while. Trying on Wedding Dresses in front of strangers can often make you feel uncomfortable.

Make sure you go well in advance

Choosing your wedding dress is one of the most important parts of wedding planning. Therefore, you need to give yourself a lot of time to be able to make the right decision. As we talked about before, you need to go well in advance as it can often take up to three months for a dress to come into the store. Therefore, once you have your venue booked, it’s time to get an appointment booked in to try on some dresses.

Try on accessories

While you’re in the wedding dress shop, you should try on some accessories to see what will go with your dress. A veil can make the dress look completely different so you should try one on to see what you think. There are so many lengths and styles of veils you can go for; try a few and see which one works with your dress. Don’t forget to try on a tiara or side headpiece to see if this helps to enhance the dress. Make sure you try on some wedding shoes as well to see what the dress looks like when you are taller.
